Topic: Define failure criteria

Hi all :)

I wish you are all fine.

My question is i want to define the crushing strain in concrete, many models continues in running and the strain of concrete in compression reaches 0.01 which is impossible

So i want to define crushing strain and thank you.

Re: Define failure criteria

Dear engomargouda,
1. please see ATENA Troubleshooting, 2.1.10 The tensile (or compressive) stresses exceed the tensile (or compressive) strength or yield stress – what is wrong?

2. Please understand that after reaching the critical compressive displacement (w_d), the resistance becomes (numerically) 0, which means the element can deform (or return towards its initial shape) without resistance.

3. If you wish to only consider the results until some strain value is reached (anywhere in the model or in selected volumes), you can define a MaxMonitor (See also Troubleshooting, 2.2.19 How can I monitor a surface (or line) load?) and discard or steps after the monitor value reaches your limit.

Regards.
