If you wish a scalar value measuring plastic deformations, look at "Equivalent plastic strain".

For the "Bilinear Steel von Mises" material model, a new data attribute "Mises Equivalent Stress" is available in the current development version now being tested (5.0). is it possible to display Tresca and/or von Mises stress? In GiD I didnt find out how to display them in postprocessing. But I think there has to be an option because the equivalent stresses are in most cases more important than the principal ones.
