My guess: you have accidentally connected the other surface, or the Interface material settings do not allow the expected slip.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Well, I did as you now described earlyer, than looked at the section provided, with this:</p><p>GiD only allows [prism] contact elements between surfaces of the same size and mesh<br />settings. <strong>Therefore, if the two surfaces (lines) to be connected are of different sizes<br />(partial contact) or with differing meshes, an extra surface (line) needs to be defined of<br />the size of the smaller of the two, located a small distance, e.g., 0.1mm, inside the<br />volume the bigger surface belongs to. Please keep in mind the 3 surfaces (lines) can not<br />share any lines or points (points). The easiest way usually is to copy the smaller surface.<br />Then, create a contact volume from the two smaller surfaces and assign the desired<br />interface (GAP) material to it. Finally, connect the additional surface to the bigger</strong></p><p>But, here is the how I did it before:<br /></p><ol class="decimal"><li><p>Created two blocks one bigger one smaller in the middle </p></li><li><p>Copyed the smaller surface on its place and checked the normals </p></li><li><p>Create volumes, select two small surfaces, one contact volume is made </p></li><li><p>Fixed contact for surface : Master the big surface, and slave the new smaller surface </p></li><li><p>Add Interface to the contact volume </p></li><li><p>Add the other materials </p></li><li><p>Run, and the blocks are still stuck together</p></li></ol>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Hello fiki, <br />ad 2.: Why 0.1mm? You can create a copy at identical position (it is strongly recommended to make use of Layers to be able to keep track which surface is which...). </p><p>Ad 3.: you need to check/correct the normals BEFORE creating the Contact Volume. <br />Why 2 volumes (from 2 identical surfaces, a single Contact Volume is to be created)?</p><p>Ad 9.: You should apply mesh settings BEFORE proceeding with the Copy in point 2. - otherwise, you need to take additional care to make sure both sides of the Contact Volume have identical meshing settings.</p>]]></content>

Mabey, you can correct me in the follwong steps:</p><ol class="decimal"><li><p>Made one big block and one smaller in the middle-ouside face of the bigger block </p></li><li><p>Copy the smaller surface inside the bigger one with the distance 0.1mm </p></li><li><p>Geometry-&gt;create-&gt;contact volume =&gt; selected the two smaller surfaces =&gt; two new volumes created</p></li><li><p>Fixed contact&nbsp; for Surface -&gt; Master the big surface -&gt; Slave the smaller surface inside the bigger volume&nbsp; </p></li><li><p>Assign material gap to the new contact voumes </p></li><li><p>Assign material to the blocks </p></li><li><p>Assign constraint on the lower face of the big block (not were the contact is), so it doesn&#039;t slip </p></li><li><p>Assign displacement on the top face of the small block (not were the contact is), so I could see the sliding </p></li><li><p>Mesh and run</p></li></ol><p>Thank you in forward</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Hello Fiki, <br />1. please follow the ATENA-GiD User&#039;s Manual, 5.3.6.3 Contacts between Incompatible Meshes. The current version of the document is also available from our web (Products - ATENA - Documentation). </p><p>2. Removing all DoFs from a connection corresponds to a &quot;No Connection&quot; option in Engineering 3D, which equals to not having any Fixed Contact for Surface at all. Having the in-plane DoF decoupled means sliding without any resistance, most likely resulting in a singular system matrix. </p><p>3. Just guessing a possible additional problem source: please do not confuse the &quot;Fixed Contact for Surface&quot; Condition with &quot;Constraint for Surface&quot;.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Hello,</p><p>I recently have started working in Atena GiD and Science. I used to work in Atena Engineering 3D. In Engineering there is a easy way to make contact. Those contact can slide against each other. I can do the same in GiD with interface material and contact volume made from two identical areas. However, if I have uneven areas and make a contact by copying those areas I have to use the fixed surface condition. After that the sliding won&#039;t occur. However, I tried to have sliding by removing the z DoF from the condition (picture below). However, If I remove all DoF&#039;s error occurs.
