Please make sure you are not using volume elements for the thin layer (use shells).
Have you changed the number of decimal digits in Genaral data - Analysis information - Global? With the default setting of 4, a layer of 1mm should not produce such error messages. Are you not trying to include two FRP layers in a single macroelement? Then, the double surface between them should give an error like this.
