Topic: Atena: RC frame with monothonically increasing cyclic lateral load

How can i model cyclic load behaviour if i have two distinct points where the load is applied to the frame (left and the right end of a beam)? First the load is acting from the left side and returns to zero. After that to the same level a load from the right is applied.

Thank you very much!

Re: Atena: RC frame with monothonically increasing cyclic lateral load

That should be no problem - you simply define 2 load cases, one for each direction. Do not forget to also define 2 monitoring points for the 2 reactions (in case of prescribed displacements) or forces (in case of force loading).

When creating the load steps, you apply the supports + thew first of the loading cases in several steps, followed by the same number of steps with a negative multiplier. Then, you apply the other load case in the same way.
