Topic: Interface concrete / masonry

How can i predict normal and tangential stiffness parameters, since i have problem with numerical stability?

Thank you!

Re: Interface concrete / masonry

First of all, only consider to define any interface (GAP) material, if you know/expect that the interface should be the weakest link (at least in one direction). Otherwise, when properly meshed, the failure is often well captured by damage of the elements of the weaker material.
If you are not sure, first run an analysis without GAP elements (i.e., Perfect connection) and when the results are not good enough, add the interface material.

It is not clear from your question if you are following the recommendations for the initial and residual stiffness values from section 2.6 Interface Material Model of the ATENA Theory Manual?

Re: Interface concrete / masonry

From section 2.5., but there is an great infulence of interface stiffness on convergence in my case study. I think i have found best solution fo me.
Thank you!
