Please always check the convergence - if the errors are small, you can trust the results. If not, it is not easy to judge if they give at least some qualitative guidance of the structure behaviour, or are just plain noise.

N-R with force loading has no way to decrease the load - when the force is increased beyond structure resistance, it can only fail (diverge).

I have a question regarding solution parameters. As far as I know N-R iterations are not supposed to be able to catch a descending load-displacement response. However this occurs in one of my anlyses. I wonder if this happens, that it means that the analysis is wrong in some way. If I change to A-L iterations before the response is descending I instead get a plateu. Does anyone have any recommendations to how I should proceed the analysis?
