Topic review (newest first)
To take the dead weight into account in the analysis in GiD, one has to apply a body force (or surface force in case of a 2D model) by the "Weight for Volume" condition (Weight for 2DElem Surface in 2D) in the interval where the self weight is to be applied (typically, in the first interval).
Unlike ATENA Engineering, the value in the Rho-Density box at the Miscellaneous tab is currently only used for the inertia masses in dynamic analysis.
Hello this is my first post and I think that these forum is very interesting for us.
I have a problem with the Dead Weight load. When I do a piece in Athens Gid (either model) and I just want to calculate their own weight to check some parameter, do not get results.
I have to add a condition of weight in terms of volume to get some results.
In the material properties is an option to add density and I think that this would be enough to run the self-weight problem, but my problem does not work.
Thank a lot
