Topic: element jacobian

hello..im using 2D engineering atena.demo version.

1) i would like to ask. im using 0.1700 as my element size for concrete and it pass to mesh. but when i tried to run the result it failed.

CCFEModelExc: Negative or zero value of element jacobian.
-9.11414e-005, in element id:28, group id: 1, name :Quads Macroelement No 1,Source line 285 File C:\Atenav5\sources\include\CCIsoEement\calculate_element.h

2) i tried to run result for beam with square opening of 150x150mm located near support. I applied until 60 analysis steps. was it logic if i get -1.496E-01 MN for load?? it is the highest load i get

Re: element jacobian

Hello, please see ATENA Troubleshooting, 2.2.6 Floating point problems - Division by zero, Loss of >7 digits on the matrix diagonal, Warning: Sign of diagonal changed when reducing equation, Floating point exception: Multiple floating points traps, Zero or negative jacobian, InvertA: zero determinant, CCMaterials Extended AExc: CC5ParamYield F:project_stress_on_f_division by zero, and similar and 2.1.23 My analysis results do not match the experiment/expectations.
How can I improve my model? The latest version of the document is available from our web under Products - ATENA - Documentation.

Without knowing details about your beam (sketch, material, boundary conditions, ...), I am afraid it is impossible to guess the load capacity...
