Topic: base shear

dear sir
in support load case,I define base surface of a shear wall as support
I want to read the base shear at the end of analysis,so define a monitoring point, reaction of a point on center of base surface of shear wall
but the magnitude of reaction was not correct
am I wrong?
what should I do in order to find out base shear?

Re: base shear

To get the total reaction, you have to sum the reactions in all nodes of the support. This can not be done automatically in the current ATENA version. You can use the text output and sum in a spredsheet, or find a way to place the horizontal support in a single point of a support plate - then, you can monitor the reaction in that single point.

Re: base shear

you mean sum of reaction of all nodes generated by FE mesh at base surface?

Re: base shear

Exactly.

Re: base shear

thanks a lot.
