Topic: how to calculate stress in reinforcement

I am doing my B. Tech. project at NIT Jalandhar, India on study of column beam joints by innovative detailing using Atena 3D.I want to know how can i find out at what step the first reinforcement in joint yields and what is max crack width at that point.

Re: how to calculate stress in reinforcement

Define a monitor for reinforcement stress and another one for max. crack width. Then, you can display them in the graph during analysis or in the postprocessor. If you set the step number for the horizontal axis, you can see directly at which step the yield stress is first reached.

In the tree, go to Run - Monitoring points - Add, the select Type: "Maximum at integration points", Value: "Stress", Item: "Component 1", Topological data: "Reinforcement bars", respectively Value: "Crack_Width", Topological data: "Macroelements". See the Atena3D User's Manual for details, especially sections 3.8.5.3 Monitoring, 4.5 Monitoring, and 5.3.4 Graph.
