Topic: Smear or embedded reinforcement

I am modeling a dynamic problem with nonlinear behavior of the concrete using the CCnonlinCementitious2 material and tetrahedral elements. Over the reinforcement bars, do you have any recommendations on what to use, smear or embedded reinforcement bars perfectly bonded to the concrete?

Dear RicardoBustamante, the choice which way is the best to model reinforcement strongly depends not only on the geometry and the reinforcement properties, but also the loading and the purpose of the analysis. If you send us your model etc. following Troubleshooting, 2.1.1, we should be able to help you decide.
